Welcome to the official website for the Freestyle Rap & Beatbox Club of the Ohio State University! You've probably been referred here by one of our talented members or have simply stumbled across us through your own interest. No matter what the case, we'd love to have you as a member of our club! The OSU Freestyle club focuses on providing both a fun and productive environment. Our membership core includes those who have a hobby of either freestyle rapping or beatboxing. We provide a meeting place to put these two talents together to create excellent, catchy rymes that will get any passer-by to stop and raise an eyebrow. By doing such, we not only provide this entertainment but also improve our own skill level.

Meeting every week (Wednesday nights @ 7:00 PM in Independence Hall 100), we enjoy making music and entertaining those around us, and we hope you'll consider joining if you are a student at Ohio State. Our club is open to those who don't freestyle rap or beatbox! Please feel free to join as a social member to enjoy the friendly environment that our members provide.

If you're looking for more information or want to contact the club about putting on an event, or are a student organization that would like to put on a combined event, great! We love nothing more than putting on collaborative events for the entire campus to enjoy. • Silence casts a shadow over the circle and everyone is at a stand still for just a moment. Heads slowly begin to nod and arms start to sway as a small beat steadily builds in the background. A rush of powerful words suddenly erupts within the circle and all become captured by the rhythm and lyrics.

  For members of Ohio State’s Freestyle Rap and Beat Box Club, this circle sets the tone for their organization: a creative environment in which students can freely express themselves. Adding a new dimension of sound to freestyle rapping, members are challenged to interlace the flow of these swift, free flowing raps with the extraordinary range of beat box noises.

  “A lot of people freestyle rap on campus with instrumentals but it brings that much more fun to add it onto a beat box,” said Keith Shields, the club’s president and a freshman at OSU.
